Why if unions cause businesses to go under do executives of non-union companies make so much in bonuses?

First of all management doesn't belong to unions even if the company has been unionized. What Merril Lynch did? I have no idea. Possibly if they had been unionized there would have been more concerns/fights for those thousands. And some of these issues would have been pointed out. But financial institutions usually aren't unionized. Maybe you could site one that is and enlighten me. Unions have nothing to do with how companies want to waste their money on management no matter what company it is.
