Why does trypsin-EDTA need to be frozen?

This is for a cell culture experiment in cell biology where we will be using trypsin-EDTA to allow trypsinisation and thus to let us remove the cells from the flask. Apparently trypsin-EDTA needs to be kept frozen and thawing/refreezing needs to be minimised, why is this the case?
